I Need U " A Big Blow-off "

 

           Every artist or band has at least one song or album that blows them off, I mean take them to the heights of popularity and make them recognized world wide. BTS's song I Need U did the same work for them. Released under the album The Most Beautiful Moment in Life Pt 1, I Need u is a song that is a big break through for BTS not only in the Kpop music industry but also world wide.

      In many people's point of view I Need U is a sing that symbolizes the depression or the loneliness after of a failed love story, but I have some different theory to that, well I will not argue that the song is basically portraying what the name is, but there is also some hidden meaning to it. It also symbolizes the lost of friendship and other factors that are disturbing to teens no w days and are eating them up silently. 

         If we look at the MV of the song it makes us cry, well me mostly, so I watched it for one time only, the lyrics alone are enough to beat the tears out of me and the MV just make my heart clench, being an ARMY it is obvious that we can't see any of the members in pain and the MV is all about that, no offense the acting skills of the members are above anything. Like I said the song is not only about a heart break.  South Korea has the highest rate of suicides mostly of teenagers  and the major reasons that cause that are stress, depression, anxiety and the fear to be left out. It is common in the school students in Korea to get bullied or bully other students who are not pretty or do not have good skin or are not rich. Parents are always forcing students to get extra ordinary grades which leads the teens to depression. 

      In my opinion BTS's song I Need U symbolizes all of these aside from the suffering of a heart break. We can see in the MV JHope swallowing a bottle of pills maybe to get rid of the depression, Jimin trying to drown himself in bathtub leading to suicide, Jungkook wandering aimlessly in the streets and coming in front of a car to try and kill himself, Suga burning everything in his room.

  V, Jin and RM's case a bit different, as we can see that RM is on a gas station filling the car's fuel when the driver arrogantly throws money on him and drives away this depicts that the teenagers are not appreciated and are thrown on the back of the scene even if they do something good.

         V is affected mentally by his father who used to abuse his mother so when he saw his father doing the same to his sister he lost all control and stabbed him with a broken glass bottle and ended up killing him.

   

     Looking at Jin's part in the MV he is holding 6 petals of lily which symbolizes the members except for him which shows that he had lost his friends amidst of all the hardships and he misses them. In the end when all the members are seen sleeping peacefully reminds me of their friendship and love. So I Need U is not just a love song but it has deeper meanings to it.
